Monday seemed to come to quickly. I got all my school books ready and I headed out the door and to my bus stop. I was only 15, I couldn't drive yet. As I got on the bus, I thought that I saw Ryan, but why? His brother drives him. There was only one thing I could think of. He was stalking me. When I got to school, I was watched by more than half of the Sophomore grade, mostly guys. I didn't mind them much until one guy came up to me and broke out into conversation.
"Hi, my name Thomas. Will you go out with me?"
I could seriously not believe what I was hearing. I'm being asked out by a boy I just met, that I hardly knew.
"Um, thanks but no." With that I walked away. I heard a little chuckling sound coming from behind me. I turned and saw Ryan what-ever-his-last-name is looking at me smiling.
"Ha, you know you just turned down the most popular guy in the grade?"
"So, I just got to this place what did you want me to say?"
"I was actually hoping that you'd say no." He held out his hand. "By the way, I'm Ryan Mitchell."
I held my hand out to his. "Dani Schulz."
He looked at me. "German?"
"Half."
"Huh." He looked at me and smiled. "Shall we?" he asked showing me to the front door.
"Sure, why not?" I smiled as he lead me to the school. I thought I was in a dream. This totally cute guy was walking me into my first day of school. As we walked I saw Thomas looking at me with disgust, like I would want to hang out with this "unpopular" guy instead of him. I made through my first three classes, Biology, Algebra 2, and Government. At lunch, I sat with Ryan and a couple of girls from my Government class. I think their names were something along the lines of Ally and Elaine. Ryan pointed out everyone to me. Ally looked at me smiling. For sometime, it was not a comforting feeling. Her teeth were crooked just a little bit, her hair in a rats nest, but she was funny. Elaine was a little different. She had perfect hair and perfect teeth. It was strange for me to be in the presence of two popular girls. At my old school I was usually called a nerd. But life was already changing for me in Montana. I was making my way to the top, I had a good group of friends, and I had Ryan to watch my back.
