Starting at Sunset Chapter 11

I woke up two days later in a hospital room in the real world. I looked around and saw next to my bed an oxygen tank. For only a second I remembered what happened just a couple of days ago. I began to cry. My dad was sitting by my bed when I started to cry. He grasped my hand and squeezed it.

"Honey what's wrong?" he asked.

"Ryan..." I sobbed. "...he's gone. For good." I started to cry more and more.

"That Ryan kid? He's downstairs waiting for you to be released."

I stared at him. But how was this possible? I was there. I saw him get shot. I cradled him. I charged at a bunch of freaks for nothing? Or did I do it for a good reason? I didn't know. My brain was too mixed up.

"He's alive?"

"Very much. Luckily what ever hit him in the back didn't go too deep. He's fine."

***
A few days later, I was released from the hospital. Ryan greeted me at the exit. He was in a wheelchair but was fine anyway. Once again we kissed. This time, us both going to heaven.
The End
I am sorry to say that this is the last time I will be writing on this blog.
If I can get permission, I will put the story in some kind of magazine.
Thank you all for reading this blog.
I bid you a fond farewell.
Sincerely,

Starting at Sunset Chapter 10

The next day came too quickly. All the witches and warlocks were getting ready for what was to come. I tried my best to help but everyone pushed me away. Why would they want a human helping them? I sat down on a bench and waited. Waited for the time to come when I would be by myself again. Ryan came up behind me. He made me jump a little and then sat down next to me. I was about to say something but he put his finger on my lips to shush me. He pulled out a little jewelry box and opened it. It was a necklace with our initials inside a little heart. I hugged him then put it on. But just as we were leaning in to hug, a man came up to Ryan.

"They'll be here soon. Time to get out there young one."

"Thank you sir." Ryan looked at me and smiled. Then left. And I was alone again. But then an idea hit me. I got up followed Ryan, but stayed clear of his sight. Lucky for me, the battlefield had a hill I could hide behind. I stayed out of sight until I heard Ryan's voice, loud and clear coming over the hill. He was trying to encourage his men (and women) telling them that the day would be theirs. I sat behind the hill, freaking out. I was trying to tell myself that everything would be okay. Then I heard the fatal word "CHARGE". It was very old fashioned though, which was surprising. I started to hear the clang of swords, the swish of flying arrows, and the moan of wounded soldiers. I stayed behind the hill until I heard the heavy footsteps of people running away. I took a peek over the hill and saw the warlocks running away from their positions. I looked at them as they ran, wanting to ask what their problem was. Then I looked again and saw a motionless body in the front of the others.

"RYAN!" I jumped up form my hiding position and ran out into the middle of the field. I reached Ryan, but I was too late. The arrow that had pierced into his back had killed him. I picked him up and cradled him in my arms, my fallen tears mixing with his blood. Anger began to grow inside me. I put Ryan's body down, picked up his sword, and ran toward the army of more than a thousand monsters. Alone.
